ACTS AWARDS Fairfield Halls Croydon 12th May 1982
THE ARTISTS have
now been selected for the London Club Acts Awards show, which
will be presented at the Fairfield Hall, Croydon on May 12.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Coulsdon and the Entertainment
Artistes Benevolent Fund, who have collaborated on several shows
at Fairfield in the past, it will be in aid of the Surrey
Beagles Athletic Club and the EABF.
The award-winning acts are: Male Vocalist - Danny Owen, Female
Vocalist - Elly Rome, Comedian - Lew Lewis, Cabaret Show Group
- Barley, Comedy Speciality - Gary Wilmot, and Music Speciality
- Stutz Bear Cats.
The selection committee comprised Reg Swinson MBE general
secretary of the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund
Ray Donn, who will be producing and directing the show,
Bernard Williams editor of Cabaret and Variety Revue, and Peter Hepple, editor of THE STAGE.
Louis Benjamin, President of the EABF, will be attending the
show and will present a personal award to the artist whom he
considers shows the most potential for stardom.
Star guest Larry Grayson, will also be appearing and the Bryan
Williamson Band is accompanying the show. David Hamilton is the
compere.
